Q&A

What inspired you to become a therapist?

I've always thought the act of bearing witness to another person's story, which is often riddled with pain, and using words to bring about change is a powerful one.Β  Part of what I refer to as the glue in any relationship is the emotional intimacy that occurs when two people share thoughts and feelings with each other.Β  The sharing of thoughts and feelings between two people generally brings them closer together.Β  I love the caring act of helping people to accept the facts of events that have occurred in their lives and creating new thoughts that lead to more skillful behaviors.Β Β

What do you feel are your greatest strengths?

I'm incredibly empathetic and understand the importance of validating how another person's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors make sense from their point of view.Β  I also know that change can be hard and is doable and necessary for healing and happiness.Β  I am a collaborator who is interested in listening to your story, teaching you skills to effectively approach your problems, and offering you some accountability so that you generalize the skills to your everyday life.Β Β

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients will leave each session knowing that a plan is in place for their recovery. They will know that collaboration is key and that adherence to in-session appointments and out-of-session assignments ensures the best possible outcome. Β Finally, clients will know that I care about them and that helping them to change is the most caring thing a therapist can do for them.
